The rest of the primaries had pulled ahead, their tattoos alight as their paws followed a forming ice along the surface of the lake. Despite having been assigned as a part of the ice bridge project, Coud lingered behind, experiencing the first of quite a bitter feeling; resentment. Granted, not quite at his leader and mentor (though he wished he hadn't assigned this to him), but rather at his own inability to fulfill his duty. With such a low level as his, he wasn't able to use the same ability as the others were freezing the lake with. His lagging behind had more purpose than anything he would be doing on the front lines, though; in a slow zig-zag, the young cat would reach one edge of the bridge, then turn towards the other, covering all of the ground that the line ahead of him had. With his nose down, his ears up, he was ensuring the stability of the ice, testing it with heaves of his weight and clicks of his claws. So far, he'd had no trouble, and his eyes had begun to droop. As night began to settle over the lands, he sighed under his breath, growing weary.

It seemed that he wasn't the only one fatigue was stealing over; his pupils dilated at the sight of a crack. Creeping forward, he watched as it spiderwebbed out, stopping just in front of his nose. Reaching out, pressing lightly, he watched as water welled to the surface. Standing slowly, he lifted his head and called to the others.
