Tonight, Valente had thought he'd found company, and had been moments from approaching the shadowed figure. When another had appeared, he'd paused, and a third had him dropping to the ground, holding his breath. The wind gusted towards him, flattened his fur and, most importantly, carried their scent to him; Enlightened. Thick and as different from any tribe scent as his own had been when he first arrived. It was suffocating. Keeping still and low, he was able to remain hidden until they moved on. Then, rising slowly and keeping his body in a crouch, he began to race across the ground, back towards his tribe. Sure, he could hide, or he could flee, but he wanted to assess the situation before committing to any single decision.
