I love Sycra so much, learned a lot from his videos on YT. And I love his love for triangles, also stop being hard on yourself Syc!

I admire the simple color theory applied. A decent orange against a nicely echoed subtle mid-blue, cool anthracite parts against the skin. Though it's a simple piece, it neatly shows technical knowledge. I might just add that I also like your pointy chins

I really like how these experiments focus on the mundane, but make it look colorful and interesting. It reminds me of Art Deco, but with the warmth of commercial art. And considering how characterful these feel, even just staring at the camera, make me think your time learning animation is having an influence. Just my two cents.

Awesome work from you, again!  And man, I want that outfit o_o it wouldn't really look good on me, though. Maybe when I'm in my 30's...

I love the contrast between the bright orange clothes and the desaturated purple accents. And hair, glasses, fashion. Very cute. Can't wait to see more! ^^

Another gem Sycra. Have you thought of doing some study on fashion/fashion designers? I watch a programme called strictly come dancing on the BBC and they have a show where they talk to the designers of the outfits. I love the art they do for the concepts of the dresses and such. I think you would really benefit from spending a little time studying fashion designers and their art.

Hmmm...  That sounds like it might be a good idea.  The thing is, I've always really hated fashion so it's weird that I'm doing work that people associate with fashion design.  My buddy Alex Negrea had this huge file of images of people on the street that he took photos of, and I just use them as reference, and change colours and poses and detail as needed, and put them in my style.  I don't think I'd be able to come up with these fashion choices from imagination...  At least, not yet.

Do you do digital much?  I've seen your traditional work and it's pretty amazing!

Delofasht In reply to Sycra [2014-01-20 06:20:38 +0000 UTC]

Thanks for the compliment!  Coming from you it means a ton.  As for digital, I own a tablet and have been learning the programs, going to be doing a lot more digitally here soon.  Probably with Sketchbook Pro because it's so easy to use and I love the interface, but a bit with Inkscape too (because it's pretty darn powerful).  I'm looking for some vector based drawing software that isn't Illustrator, because I can't stand Adobe UI layouts and menus, which feel like a mental overload when you are searching for something specific but can't quite figure out what they would call something or worse where they would decide to hide it.  Adobe software has always seemed like the least intuitive software I've ever used.

Ohhh! I finally remembered what did your style remind me of! Look at this:

Yours is more pointy, more accurate, and I find it more interesting than the one from the show, but it still reseminds me of it. Especially he colouring
