Description ...but not really.

Fail attempt at watercolor is fail, but I figure I need the practice if I want to get any good at it. And long description is just info about his character, so feel free to ignore if that kind of thing doesn't interest you.

So because Wikipedia is a beautiful thing, I've been reading up a bit on all the outer Senshi to try and figure out what to do with their male equivalents in Sailor Male. Saturn's story interested me the most, what with her being part cyborg in the manga and eventually dying but then being brought back as a baby in the anime.

But because I've never been one for the whole "kill off characters for the drama but then bring them back to life to make everything all better," I figured that for my version of things, when male Saturn died, he actually died, and his father, out of grief, created a clone of him as a way of attempting to revive his son.

In all actuality, his story pretty much has little to do with the real Sailor Saturn's except for bits of backstory. Hotaka Rotoe (which is what we decided to name him) lives with his crazy scientist father abroad. His mother died at some point when he was very young (gotta think of some way to get her out of the picture) and when he was 12, he was involved in an explosion that cost him his right arm and leg. Luckily for them, some alien guy happened to come upon them when this happened and was able to save Rotoe and fashion a mechanical arm and leg for his missing limbs. I won't go into their story too much since I'd rather ramble about them on an actual picture of them, but Rotoe was eventually killed so his father and Pharus (the alien guy who saved him earlier) decided to make a clone.

The picture itself is a picture of that clone, thus why he's not exactly male Sailor Saturn since he can't transform. For my own sake, I've decided to refer to the clone as Hotaka and the original as Rotoe, but the two do look very similar. Due to the fact Hotaka isn't a true clone, having been created by having some of Pharus' genes mixed in with Rotoe's, their coloring is a bit different.

Rotoe's hair is black while Hotaka's is purple.
Rotoe's eyes are purple while Hotaka's are purpleish-red.
Rotoe's skin tone is slightly lighter than Hotaka's.
And of course, Rotoe's right arm and leg are made of metal while Hotaka's are all natural.

Thank you! And the clone thing is a result of me having been playing far too much Metal Gear Solid lately.

cool! I always figured the characters in Sailor Moon were kind of like gods and they couldn't really die because they would just be reincarnated... hence they can't truly be killed in "normal" ways and mostly Sailor Moon "defeats" people by making them good/using the power of love... the only "real" villain in Sailor Moon seems to have been Pharoah 90... and the only "real" power any of the senshi had seems to be Saturn's power... so it would make sense that she would be the only one to actually die... but well... even she gets reborn in the anime... your clone story reminds me of Astro-Boy... but he's a robot, not a clone... now where's my cookie? JK... XD

But being reincarnated isn't exactly the same as being brought back to life. I rather adore the idea of reincarnation in stories, it's only bringing them back to life without any consequences that tends to bug me. Probably cause you have to start all over when you're reincarnated while being brought back to life makes death seem like a minor inconvenience.

Ah yes, the power of love. It did make me a bit sad though how the choice for most villians was either be cleased by the power of love or die. And I kind of wished they did more with Pharoah 90 than just the brief appearance they did do. And Saturn still got the whole "death as a minor inconvenience" treatment since they quick-aged her when they wanted her to fight again (which leds to questions on why quick-aging a baby wouldn't lead to all sort of other issues in the child's mental and emotional stability. She wasn't even the most stable person to begin with before she died).

Huzzah for Astro-Boy. That hadn't occured to me at first, but now that you mention it, his story is similar to Astro-Boy in some sense.

And if I could, I would so give you a cookie. Sadly, the internet doesn't allow for real cookies to be sent so all I can give is a make believe cookie.

I'll take make believe cookies anytime!!!
It's nice to have a loyal friend, even just an internet friend

I agree with you about the points you mentioned, BTW... gah! I got all interested in how some people think Avatar:The Last Airbender is an anime and now I've gone on an Avatar watching spree... and I can see why people seem to think that. Turns out when I caught the first run on TV I missed some of the "very Japanese" episodes...

I love it... I think it's one of the best series ever, even though it's only 61 episodes...

Even though I just ate a bunch of ice cream I could go for a couple maccaroons...
