All of the next pages are sketched but I am looking at the 6th and I'm supposed to draw a deer but it looks really weird (i'm really bad at drawing deers) so it may take some time until I post the next page because I want to get it right. Will I succeed ? It remains to be seen. (It's gonna be a miserable fail I know it)

Nice comic! What program do you use for your drawings? (I'm guessing sai) also, about how long did each page take?

Thank you

I use photoshop

And for the time it took me... I can't remember for the sketches but it usually takes me around 2 hours to draw the fully colorized and shaded characters on a page like this (tough I had to come up with the designs of the characters in the last panel so this pages took me a bit more than 3 hours).

A friend helped me with the backgrounds (I used 3 large backgrounds to make all these pages) and each are about 4000 pixels and took about 4-5 hours to draw if I remember well.

Wow thank you so much the tips! Especially the one for backgrounds! It's very helpful since I'm going to be staring a long comic soon. Also do you have any other tips? Like how to make the lineart so clean and stuff?

Well, what I usually do is that I start the page with it's final canvas (1000x700 here), I sketch, and then I increase the size of the whole picture (usually I double the size but it's up to you ), I clean and colorize it so it looks like what you can see here. Then I scale it down to its original size. It can be really useful because sometimes the layers you apply to shade/lighten/etc... your character will give an ugly pixelated effect on some parts of the drawing. Scaling it down will make it mostly invisible (+ it basically hides the ugly little things so it's pretty cool )

To get a clean lineart I use the pen tool for continuous lines (belly, back, legs, etc...) and a regular brush to draw the fur and small lines (like the face). When it comes to the coloring, what I do is that I first color with a monochrome tone, then I lock the layer to add the other colors. I usually use the freehand pen tool to delimit the markings and then I press ctrl + enter to turn it into a selection, then I fill the selected area with the color I want. It's quite useful because it will be smoother than selecting the area with the lasso tool, and faster than using a regular brush. If you want to use the freehand pen tool, I recommand you to lower its settings (I think mine is at 1,3 or 1,5) or it will turn sharp fur-like lines into some kind of floppy cloud lines

Hope this helps

thank You! but a couple questions (it may be different because I use photoshop cs2) but where is the monochrome tone thing? When I looked it up it was under adjustments... and I really appreciate the advice it's very helpful

Oh sorry, I still have some problems with english, what I meant was that I used only one color to fill the lines

For exemple, after doing Rhys's (the grey wolf) lines, I color him with the middle grey tone you can see on his upper body, then I lock the layer and add the other colors

oh ok! thank you very much! and that's pretty cool! what is your native language?

btw, for helping me, I'll give you a tip on shading. I don't know if this is the method you use, but at the bottom of the 'layers' window the are other buttons. If you hover your mouse over the button that is half black and half white, it should say 'create new fill or adjustment layer.' Click on the button and a little window should pop up. Click on photo filter. Go to color and choose what color you'd like to shade with. Put the density to 100% and be sure to uncheck 'preserve luminosity'. The whole drawing should now be colored. Press ctrl+I and then go to your brushes. Change the color to white and start shading [you have to use the color white because ctrl+i inverted the layer]
