Description "Keep your eye on the skies. People been disappearing recently..."

The Verabat, a hunter of the skies feared across every region. In the past, bats were criticized as being ugly and as messengers of death or signs of evil, but they were mostly harmless in the end. But the Verabat is all of the above (aside from being harmless) and is incredibly dangerous.

Often called the 'Silent Hunter', the Common Verabat hunts almost without a sound. The only thing you'll hear is the swoop of their wings as they reach down to grab their prey. The darkness of night is their cover, and they use it well as their dark brown fur is almost impossible to see.

Verabats are solitary hunters, but mates often share a cave. They take turns prowling the skies, bringing prey back to the cave for both to feast upon. These caves are often connected to the Underworld, where hundreds of Verabat roosts can be found.

Various Facts:

- Like ancient Bats, Verabats use sound to see. This echolocation is much more advanced though due to evolution.
- Verabats also have unbelievable hearing, and can hear a heartbeat from almost a mile away. Of course, they are able to filter out most noises to prevent deafness from loud noises, but this doesn't always work, which is why researchers suggest making loud noises if you think a Verabat is near.
- Common Verabats are native to almost every region.
- Common Verabats have a body that is about 9 feet in length with a wingspan that can reach up to 25 feet. They can weigh about 150 lbs.
- Females are often more agressive, the way to differentiate them from males is to look for a lighter fur color and for small stripes near their eyes, of course this is unnecessary and dangerous.
- Despite not being much larger than the average human, Verabats are strong enough to easily pluck them off the ground.
- Their mouth is rather unique amongst mammals. It works by opening with the teeth pushing outwards. The teeth are then dug into the flesh and pulled back, tearing chunks of flesh from the prey. The food is then pushed down the throat by the now bent back teeth before the process begins anew.
- Many myths follow the Verabat ranging from them being messengers of Death to them being Carriers of Sickness. Cults also worship the various species of Verabat.
- They can live for 50 years.
