Grim was a young Bad Blood who participated in the slaughter of Cutter's village. In particular, Grim was responsible for killing Cutter's parents, a feat which earned him Cutter's rage. Cutter managed to sneak attack the young warrior and sever his arm, forcing Grim to retreat. He retreated all the way back to their landing craft, healing when he found the opportunity. When his fellow raiders returned, a few of them mocked Grim for his loss at the hands of an Unblooded whelp. Disgraced, he hid himself away during the return trip.

Once they returned, Grim set about finding a way to redeem himself to his clan, working with a few of his closest allies to build himself a new, deadlier arm. They succeeded, turning Grim into one of the deadliest among them. For years he hunted alongside his clan, before usurping their leader in a duel and taking the clan for himself. His reign only lasted a few short years before his nemesis returned, stalking and killing his hunters before luring Grim into a duel. During the ferocious fight, Grim's settlement was attacked by the Splicers, who were killing or abducting his clan mates.

In an unexpected twist, he and Cutter had to fight alongside each other to survive the assault. Once the attackers were cleared, Grim boarded one of their ships, hoping to use its navigation systems to find where the Splicers made their base. In yet another twist, Cutter decided to join him, setting the two off on a journey that would lead to horrors unknown...
