Description "Those piercing, red eyes. I'll never forget them."

A mysterious group of creatures that appeared in Point Pleasant, West Virginia a few months before the collapse of the Silver Bridge. While it is unknown whether the creatures had any role in the collapse, many speculate that they were either responsible or were a warning. The creature itself seems to be clad in darkness; an absolute absence of light, aside from its terrifying red eyes. Further research from TriZen scientists has found a link between them and Dimension-4KTI, with similar creatures being discovered on expeditions to this alien world. Perhaps this is how they appear when they cross into our world? This raises even more questions however, as the bridge to 4KTI had first been opened in 2032. It begs the question; are there other entrances to this dimension? And if so, why is it so intrinsically linked with our world?

As mentioned above, the only notable encounter with the Mothmen was the events preceding and following the Silver Bridge collapse in 1967.

also it can foresee catastrophic events, i can believe the Mothman is something much more alien, think of it as a multidimensional entity in which that shape is just one of it's forms.

the SCP Foundation had a take on this entity called SCP-2901, in which the Mothman was described as some sort of eldritch multidimensioned monster that lack an actual physical form and it only becomes physical if any person perceives what the creature is supposed to be, for example: if people think or perceive the Mothman as a world ending monstrosity then the Mothman becomes that world ending monstrosity, and if people perceive the Mothman to be a precognitive scavenging bird then the Mothman becomes that precognitive scavenging bird, same thing if humans perceive the Mothman to be just a dark winged humanoid moth.

so.. that SCP can become anything horrible depending on people's mass hysteria and public perception of the Mothman.

That's pretty awesome! Haven't made it that far into SCP yet, but I hope to begin reading them again. I always liked picturing it as a friendly(?) alien, but that's an awesome way to picture the creature.
