I did this wave study a really long time ago in my sketchbook, back when I was very new to gouache. I didn't really know what I was doing, and I remember spending a long time layering things and feeling very frustrated it didn't seem like it was coming together how I wanted. I saw it again recently and was surprised by how much I like it! I think it's really easy to get too familiar with the things you're making and their perceived flaws, and sometimes a little time and distance from your art can give you the chance to look at things with fresh eyes and renewed appreciation. 🌊
