Just wondering: it's wonderful and all, but how do you make the clover part? It adds a nice simple touch to the kusudama as a whole, to contrast the complexity.

Good question! I think diagrams for the clover can also be found in "Origami Kusudama" by Tomoko Fuse, but will look that up. I remember it's pretty simple to fold, though.

Beautiful! How do you make those four leaf clovers?

The diagrams for the clover are also in "Origami Kusudama" by Tomoko Fuse, but I tweaked them a bit so that I would get a four-leaf clover instead of a three-leaf with stem. Thank you!

I think it was something along the lines of the 4 leaf, by a very smart person. I do not take any credit in designing the origami. [link]

What is a Kusudama?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

synconi In reply to Bonbondoodle [2011-08-15 16:15:25 +0000 UTC]

The kusudama is a ball made out of lots of identical origami modules and either glued or strung together. They were traditionally used as a ball for incense actually, and are usually quite floral in appearance.

I used diagrams in the book "origami kusudama" by Tomoko Fuse.

Thank you, Irene! I'm working on something at the moment which is possibly the most difficult origami I have ever attempted...and it's driving me nuts!

Nenesta In reply to synconi [2011-06-29 09:54:05 +0000 UTC]

What is it that makes it so difficult?

synconi In reply to Nenesta [2011-07-04 17:43:40 +0000 UTC]

It's VERY complicated and just difficult technically, I'm hoping to finish it by the end of the summer...<3

iDoux [2011-06-27 13:23:18 +0000 UTC]

Awesome!!! Love it, I think you need like 30 modules no? is like 60 pieces of paper?
12 hours of folding, that's awesome, 7.5*7.5, must be pretty big the final model... yeah i recognized the pieces when i saw the other photo, i think you really liked tomoko fuse work no?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

synconi In reply to iDoux [2011-06-27 19:22:55 +0000 UTC]

You need 18 flowers only, actually, so 36 pieces of paper. They are quite time-consuming modules however.

Thank you! I bought the Tomoko Fuse book with lots of kusudamas in and I can't wait to try more of them!

iDoux In reply to synconi [2011-06-27 20:58:03 +0000 UTC]

Just 18?
i tought it was more... cool then... yeah to spend 12 hours in 18 modules i think is kida difficult, the longest time i have spend in a modular is like 7-8 hours or something, and was like 30 modules...
You are welcome, i knew you would like her... she is amazing!
Keep taking shots of all those awesome kusudamas.. ill fav them all!

synconi In reply to nariataskye [2011-06-27 19:25:00 +0000 UTC]

Thank you! Like a lot of kusudamas, all the separate modules are threaded together with string to form a ball shape.

synconi In reply to takanika [2011-06-27 19:25:38 +0000 UTC]

Thank you!

Usually, I browse the internet to find models I want to try and then I find the books which contain the diagrams and instructions.

You're welcome! xD

I browse the internet too. But sometimes it's difficult to do the origamis...
I think I need more practice ^^"
I've tried to find books but I have no luck >< Or they are too expensive...
I'll search more on the internet! Thanks!

Sorry for/about( ? sorry again >< my english is a little rusty. lol) the late! Can you do that? *.* I accept the link to tutorial videos, I think it's easier when we see the person doing the origami ^^ Don't need to be a lot of links. ^^" Thanks for helping! I really appreciate it. Love your work!

A neater one?! How can it possibly get any neater?

This is amazing. I really like the way you've used the colours quite liberally, almost.. they complement each other effectively, and I think it's fitting you've caught the main subject matter against the background there. The square format is great in making it seem quite compacted and... yeah, I don't think we fully get the measurement of this, if that makes sense? I mean, we have no clue whether this is massive, or whether this is quite small...

Still quite interesting, nevertheless.

synconi In reply to 3wyl [2011-06-27 19:27:00 +0000 UTC]

(LOTS of ways, the photo is small so you can't see all the flaws...)

Hmm we had a bit of this conversation before, no? It's quite difficult to find a way to photo my origami so that we get the full impact of its size...still haven't figured it out.

Thank you, dear!
