From a bigger thing I've been working on, on and off, for.. *checks* HOOLY SNAP 3 months now you may recognize it from my ID.Well, I've been slowly disliking this pic more and more (you know, the usual thing when you look back on older art) so I'mma just submit it before I dislike it too much

CRITIQUE MODE ACTIVATE
So can I just start out by saying I really REALLY like the perspective in this picture? The background and how well it flows together just really makes me happy. That being said, it's kinda hard to see exactly how the bench fits in with the background, and because of the way the background works it looks like the perspective is centered but the edges of the bench (unless this was intended) don't seem to flow with the same center of focus. For the most part Indi looks fantastic, both with detail and proportions (It's actually a rather adventurous pose and you pulled it off rather well), the only odd parts having to do with the pose itself (such as that you can't see his right leg or arm or neck due to how they're concealed with the pose), and even then you don't really notice it. Shading looks great, love the background, keep up the good work!
ALSO THAT BOOT I JUST NOTICED LOOKS SWEET.

Ugh yea actually I noticed that when I was FINISHED with the pic XD how the perspective was a little wonky. Eh. I think it's cuz my sketch was RLY sketchy, so it tricked my eyes into thinking everything was all aligned.
So i'll be sure to keep track of that next time!

OMFg you kind soul you xDDD Thank you SO much! hmmm it's 90% thanks to SAI and the fabulous brush tool. It does some really nifty blending, especially for that grungy look <: just a few smudges of dark brown in the right places and it's done ~ this whole pic was a really quick thing

Ugh so since I use SAI already, the other 10% must just be sheer talent, in which case my plan to easily create really nice backgrounds is thwarted. Darn. xD

I would have to say that the background looks nice.
Also liking the colors used in this piece; it really projects a warm and serene atmosphere that fits with the overall mood of the picture. Seems like Indi has been spotted by someone or something.

ahhh thank you so much! I love messing around with backgrounds. And atmospheres. It's amazing what tiny shifts in the details (color/scene) can do for the mood of a pic. For a while I'd just been a detail freak, putting in as much stuff into a pic as possible, but lately I've been trying to control what I put in a pic, aiming for a specific feeling, even if that means giving up some detail.Ā
