I'm trying to figure out how dodos did look like. This watercolor is based on the beautiful painting of Cornelis Saftleven in 1638. My intention is to represent this bird as an actual bird, not as a cartoon or as a caricature as I usually see it. I have the intention of doing some variations with different color of feathers, what about a vivid red dodo?,but always with a realistic drawing style, i don't want to go childish with dodos.

Also this is my comeback to watercolor, a media I had left behind due to the loss of the materials. I have to recover the patience I had when I made watercolors as well, this one is done very fast. I know. The line of the bill is far too defined, this kind of small details is what i have to recover in order to improve my watercolors .
