Description Suddenly a character, though her concept and lineart was made last year. As many of you may know, I don't use natural colours too often, both brown and green are rare. But they seemed right for her. It's not too easy to spot a peryton from tall coniferous trees, if it's coloured like a coniferous tree.

Her name is Kali and she is one of sapient supernatural species called peryton. Her species is rare, and everybody are thankful to that. Perytons are not known to be anything good. They are nasty and really persistent in any environments. Primarily they are known of eating hearts, many careless creatures have lost their life when a peryton has attacked and tore their chest open, eating their heart (and maybe some other parts). Perytons are not friendly towards their own kind either, they all have their own large territory which they rule sovereignly - Kali is not an exception. Just that instead of heart, she prefers eating livers. That won't save anyone's life, though. Perytons cast a shadow of their latest victim of which heart they ate, Kali is stuck with the shadow of a salkahi. Eating livers don't seem to have shadow changing effects.
Kali is pretty typical peryton, with slender bodyshape, smooth skin, leathery wings and greenish feathers. Female perytons have only stubby antlers instead of bigger antler crown. She rules a large coniferous forest, through the year. She has managed to hunt down some sapient creatures, but locals have learnt now that they shouldn't go deep into the forest alone, without good leather armor or long spears. Kali may have advantage with her sharp talons, sudden attack and venomous bite, but she would fall quickly if someone was fast enough to thrust a spear through her. A large animal like a moose has of course bigger liver, and it is easy to take down with venom and then just wait, but the more intelligent prey the better properties their guts give. What are these properties exactly, is unsure, nobody wants to ask anything from perytons.
Kali has intelligence like any other sapient creature, but it's not smart move to talk with her or with any peryton actually. Gryphons and dragons usually respect brains and won't do harm if you are able to talk with them, but perytons seem to not care.

Β€ Brush pen, colour pencils, golden marker.

For those who didn't know, peryton is a real ("real") old mythological beast, though much old peryton knowledge has been lost nowadays. I was going to make more normal peryton but it seemingly got some banshee-ish traits and some other enhancements...

No. I approve that you asked beforehand, but random people using my characters is something I don't want, even with credits.
Thanks for respecting my rules and characters.

This is really awesome! Β I'll have to admit, I haven't heard of these before, and seeing one makes me all kinds of excited to see someone doing not popular mythological creatures!

Also I like how this reminds me of a bat and microraptors all at the same time XD

There are a huge lot of old creatures, but many of them are barely known. People know dragons and gryphons basically, everything else is so-so.

Yeah C: Β I like delving into the more obscure things in mythology. Β It's really very interesting to see what things people were dreaming up way back when! Β I think there used to be some website that had a Monster of the Month thing, and it was generally obscure mythology, but I haven't heard about it in a long while since D: Β

But again, super neat representation of this critter!

She looks really cool. I also like the circle behind her. It's a minimalistic background but effective. It's also nice that you're using a little known creature and bringing it to peoples' attention.

There was so much empty space that it disturbed me, had to create something. x>
I have known perytons a while, still surprising how unknown they are actually.

Aren't perytons supposed to be quadrapedal?

It varies. Sometimes it's basically a deer with wings. Sometimes a bird with deer's head. And when it's about me, it distantly reminds bird-deer but is not literally that at all.
