Description At first when I started working on this it was simply meant to be me trying to form some thing in Sculptris Alpha 6 that wasn't some thing at random. Some thing some one else had created and I had to follow guidelines to make. The "Teacher", Flinx's space ship out of the "Flinx and Pip" series by Alan Dean Foster came to mind for this because of it's simple appearance. Well simple shape. I used the art shown on the official website here: [link] as my reference image to work by. After making the base model in Sculptris I just had to play with my new camera I got over Christmas. That's how the green screen sequence came into it. At this point I felt it needed a follow up. That became the in space departure from Earth and after that. Well I wasn't too sure. I deeply considered animating Flinx in PAP 4.0. This didn't happen for two reasons. One I wasn't sure where in the series to set the scene as for it being a piece of fan fiction. Second PAP takes a long time to make animation with. I love how the program works but even 12 seconds can take a week to finish working on with all work is said and done. Pip fighting with a Mid-World plant came to mind next. Some thing as you can see, Anime Studio 6 worked well with.

PS: I know I didn't put pink in Pip's wings. Sorry to those that notice this difference from book to toon.

Jesus Christ!!! This is AWESOME!!! I've been a Flinx and Pip fan, well of the Commonwealth, since 1979. Jesus Christ, you did an animation of it all! Do you realize how so very glad I am to have found this???

Thank you very much and for your comment on the Ulru-Ujurrian Tackle as well, and the faves !
There is two other pieces of Pip & Flinx fan art in my gallery, plus Spellsinger fan art as well. If you like I'll gladly point them out to you since I know my gallery is vast.

I am and have been considering doing more fan art based off the Pip & Flinx series later on. The pictures Alan Dean Foster conjures into the mind, well at least my mind. I wanna share considering how easily the images come.

Trust me on this, it just blew my mind with delight to find somebody on this planet actually depicting scenes or characters from Foster's series, not even the professional artists commissioned to provide paintings go beyond their assignment. Systemcat, I'm just bursting with inner joy with your effort , I am an art lover, especially of the science fiction genre, though I don't exclude others. Michael Whelan is one of my top 10 favorite artists.

Please, if you do have time, more drawings if you could? I am working on an animation segment, myself, and will gladly notify you when it is completed. Yes, it involves a certain red haired, freckle faced young boy....take care and God bless you. : )

Sorry for the late reply, my latest journal explains why.

Just wondering, what did you think of my interpretation of a 'Tar-Aiym'?

Thanks ! The descriptions that put it together really made me wonder about the intended appearance. I know the fur was my idea and not Foster's but I think it adds a nice touch.

Well there is one other piece of fan art in my gallery but Pip is barely visible in it due to how dark it is. I would like to do a piece showing a Furcot but I think my imagination's interpretation of them isn't right by far considering the official book cover art I've seen for them. I'm not sure how to define my drawing because of that case. Your thoughts?

Ha ha ha....you're giving way too much credit on those 'official book cover art'. I think you could do it. Pencil your concepts out.
