Description
Sketched with Bic 0.7 mechanical pencil, lined with Faber-Castell XS and S #199 Pitt Artist Pen, colored with Faber-Castell regular and Polychromos pencil crayons as well as Faber-Castell Albrecht Dürer water color pencils.
Real talk: This was the most difficult drawing of my life!
I got very emotional drawing it and the details, especially coloring them, took the life out of me.
I hope it was worth the effort!
Bronia and her family, Lola and Zorard the Lonely Warrior, bless their Easter basket.
Yup, this is late, but its still within the Easter season, which ends on Sunday June 9 with Pentacost.
Traditionally, we bless Easter baskets on Holy Saturday morning.
They contain eggs (usually decorated), cold cut meat, horseraddish, sweet bun, salt, pepper, bred, cheese, and are decorated with flowers and lace doilies.
Each item has a special symbol (ex. the eggs (pisanki) for new life/Resurrection, the lamb, made of sugar or dough, for Jesus, the Lamb of God).
The Easter basket blessing itself and the food in it is called Święconka.
We eat the food for Easter breakfast. One of the eggs we split and share, just like we do opłatek at Christmas.

The church is a real place, the Holy Family Chruch, Zakopane, Poland.
While Daisy mostly takes place in fictional cities - Middle-of-Nowhere, Eagle Fortress and the Dark Forest are my own inventions - the Podhale region is a real place in the South of Poland, by the border with Slovakia. Eagle Fortress is not particularly far from the real city of Zakopane, and, this year, Bronia's family went to a church located there. Its a church covered in beautiful folk patterns

Lola and Zorard's outfits are inspired by actual regional costumes from Podhale (strój górali podhalańskich). I usually draw more stylized versions of their costumes, with Lola wearing a rose-themed outfit and Bronia a daisy-themed one, this time I wanted to draw an exact representation thereof.
This was the difficult part I almost gave up . . .
