Oh, thank you! I'm not sure to be honest -- I think it's just more contemporary. Kids these days are certainly different, and I think the image the classic Archie represents isn't all that appealing to younger readers, so it's trying to remain faithful to what has come before it, but also roll with the changes time brings!
Thanks too! I really wish I could've done more there, but Nickelodeon were a NIGHTMARE to deal with at the time. Working with Mirage on the original TMNT stuff was an absolute blast though!

I enjoyed the old Archie comics, but this new stuff is really not to my taste, I dunno why. Probably coz they've had to adapt to the times and conform to certain expectations from the media. Ah well, I still have my Americana series in hard copy form.
I will say I did like their goofy cross-ocers, I still think the Turtles and Punisher ones were the best.
I can imagine, but they are tryna market the Turtles to kids since thats where the money is. Even though I liked the orignal direction the Turtles had, tongue in cheek by still violent and gritty.
Lol, in case you haven't noticed, I'm a huge Turtles fan, I absolutely love Raph.
Btw, did you ever meet Kevin Eastman?

Archie was never really much of a thing here in Australia, but those crossovers certainly were! You see the Predator one that's out at the moment?
Yeah, I dunno. I kinda feel like IDW are just taking a lot of the old stuff and trying to find ways of making it "new and cool", and while I like some of it, I don't think it's living totally up to its potential. But I'm a Mirage guy, so I prefer my tongue in cheek, gritty black and white books!

I tried my hand at making homemade comics once, did not go so well.
So I adapted the story into a game format, which I've been working on for years... never gets finished though coz I always end up finding something I don't like and restartingit all over.
Yeah I saw the predator one, I'm actually surprised by a lot of the cross overs they have actually done, coz a lot of them seem so out of place.
Yeah, I'm a mirage guy too, although, I will admit I really enjoyed the first season of the new nickelodeon Turtles... season 2 has been disappointing.

Is this another horror comic? I was impressed by their Sabrina horror comic... it looked more like Warren comics than Dark Horse's Warren revival.

No! Not a horror comic, more of a contemporary reimagining of the characters. Everything I hear about it is fantastic so far, so I think it'll be worth checking out!

I'll check it out, I did really like the Sabrina reboot. I'm a little weary of all the reboots we've been getting recently, but the Archie gang comics haven't been terribly interesting to me since the 1970s material (although I still enjoyed the 80s material,) so if retooling a character is necessary for anyone's probably Archie Andrews.

I know they did do some outlandish stories at certain points, but there's nothing in the base concept of Archie that I would call unrealistic.
