David and Daniel had to buy a flight ticket late and the flight was already fully booked, so they only managed to get two seats. Fortunately, the two places were next to each other. However, David was not so happy about this. He was the tallest of the brothers and not just by a little. Daniel was also tall for his age as he was taller than many adults but still barely reached David's chest. So the last two seats, which were the cheapest, on the plane, the boy barely fit. The armrest separating the two seats was pushed up and thus the boy's body took up almost two seats. Daniel was squeezed between his brother's body and the seat next to him. David felt very guilty about Daniel's situation.
But before the plane took off, a nice flight attendant approached the boys. She smiled kindly.
"One passenger in business class did not show up and so his seat is free." She said and turned to Daniel. "Thus, the staff will offer you to take that seat to make your journey more comfortable."
David sighed in relief, but Daniel hesitated. He didn't want to leave his brother alone on the long flight. He shared this with the flight attendant, who nodded in understanding and left.
David was grumpy at his brother for giving up a comfortable flight just to have his company. Although he was very happy in himself, this made him feel guilty again.
Fortunately, the flight attendant reappeared and an older gentleman came with luggage. As it turned out, he owns the seat next to the empty seat and is willing to switch with David so that the two brothers can sit next to each other.
The boys were very grateful and thanked him several times. David bent down and slowly reached his new seat, sat down and took off his hoodie because he was getting hot. Daniel sat down next to him. The two places were more spacious and the seats were bigger. It is true that it was still tight for David and one shoulder leaned against the side of the plane and the other passed over Deniel's seat, but it was much more comfortable than before.
Both are grateful that others noticed their problem and helped to solve it.
