The CAC 455M is a variant of the CAC 455 with a much shorter and more ergonomic stock assembly, it was released shortly after the base 455 model following complains about the long length of pull. It is chambered in the venerable .223/5.56mm Remington cartridge, historically also referred to as 5.56mm NATO. The rifle is primarily marketed to police agencies, militias and private security companies operating in remote areas where 5.56x45mm can be expected to deal with any relevant threats.

The ejection port can be easily swapped from the right hand side to the left hand side to minimize the risk of ejected cases hitting the shooter in the face.
