The J-750 Mk.2 Designated Marksman Rifle is an improved version of the JAGUAR-750 DMR produced by COF after its contract with Serenity Military Industries expired and the company was free to direct all the available resources for in house products. Among the first of these projects was the production of an improved DMR, supposed for UFS military units who wouldn't adopt the Morningstar particle burst DMRs for one reason or another. The main improvements over the original gun are greater support for readily available aftermarket accessories, better ergonomics in its standard configuartion, including an improved charging handle, that would later be used on later SMI produced Morningstar rifles, a lower top accessory rail and a much better ventilated handguard.

Contrary to the J-650 Mk.2 ICR , the J-750 Mk.2 DMR was quite successful with the UFS military, as many concluded that a traditional firearm still has a place in their tactics, leading to relatively widespread adoption of the J-750 Mk.2 DMR to replace or supplement JAGUAR-750 DMRs. In some cases they were even adopted as light sniper rifles or scout rifles alongside Morningstar DMRs and Blackstar sniper rifles. Additionaly the gun was success on the civilian, law-enforcement and export markets, making it one of the major ealy successes of COF.

The J-650 Mk.2 is still chambered in 6.5x66mm CT and can fire a variety of anti-body armor and anti-exosuit rounds that makes it still reasonably effective against modern, heavily mechanized armies, like the Terran military. The J-650, just like JAGUAR is not nearly as effective as modern particle burst rifles or larger caliber firearms, but is effective enough when paired with heavy squad level ordnance, like grenade launchers, anti-material rifles or magnetic mass accelerators.
