This is one drawing that I actually drew (mostly) when at the Days of the Dead convention, while selling the other drawings. The King in Yellow is a novel by Robert W. Chambers who was king of a proto-Lovecraft in the the 19th century. He was undoubtedly influenced by Poe. The King in Yellow has become part of the Cthulhu Mythos. The story is about a play that sweeps across Europe, driving people who read it mad. The King himself is an obscure entity, but is often depicted thusly, with the Pallid Mask, and tentacles beneath is robe.
