This is what I've been doing over Thanku Break instead of checking my DA like a good child.I don't want to spoil it for anyone, or do too much ranting, but Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World is definitely worth a play through or two. Though it's not nearly as good as Abyss, and definitely not the original Symphonia, I still loved it.
Anyhoo, on to addressing the comic! (Martel, everything I draw is a comic these days...)
The girl with the dark hair and the t-shirt is my best friend Mo (Who's too lazy to get a DA. >.< ) . And I'm the one with the ears and the spastic hair. Everyone else is from the game, of course.
And I swear to Martel, Richter has a thing for Emil through the first ten-ish hours of game play. It made me twitch. I mean, he was BLUSHING! Richter's a meanie-face; he's not suppose to go all googley whenever Emil talks! It's not natural!
But it is amusing.
And thus, this comic.
And for the record, now that I'm close to beating the game, I'm pro RichterxAster. But I'm not going to tell you who Aster is. I will only say that he's adorable and amazing.

Hey! Richter is not the only one who blushes, Emil does too! more than Richter! I think Emil had a crush on Richter (I don't blame him, I have a crush on him too), but maybe the Richter's crush on Emil it's because Aster.

i love playing tos2 but only my friend has it
plus when we played, we used up the grade stuff for keeping the over 9000 lvled monsters, so i wuz thinking " OAO WITHOUT THE MONSTERS WE WOULD PRBLY BE TOAST." that would mean the first playthrough is prbly hell D: and i'd prbly not survive and then give up on the game and leave it to collect dust XD
so that would be a big waste

NEVER GIVE UP~! What I would suggest is to sit and level grind for a while. Go to an area with high level monsters and just fight as many as possible for a couple of hours. I had to do that SO MANY TIMES over the course of this game. >.<

I looked at them. They're good so far, but I would try to pull in the original characters a little more~

Marta was kind of a giant Mary-Sue. I was actually really pissed at the writing in the game. The only person they didn't make totally OOC was Sheena, and sometimes Collette. Zelos hits on everyone BUT the people in the party (wtf happened to Sheena's huge chesticles being objects of interest?), Raine was just kind of a ruin-mode mockery of herself (plus she found the ruins she was looking for last game... o_O), Presea abused one teeny joke, Collette was just off somehow, Genis was too childish, Regal was just not himself at all, Lloyd... need I say anything? Even with the half-assed explination, it was still WTF DID HE DO THAT FOR!?!
Battle system was good, but I ended up supporting Ratatosk/Marta and Richter/Emil. Go figure, I usually am all for the cannon pairings. (LUKE/TEAR FTW. SO CUTE.)
It sucked so bad that I started playing the other Tales games to fill the void. TOS2 was not cannon, in my book.

I personally consider it to be like a giant fan fiction. It's good on it's own, but in comparison to the original, it's utterly pathetic.
And GAH, all the original characters from ToS had their personalities messed up. It was like they took the extreme ends of their personalities and made that into who they were. (Ex: Presea's paw pad joke, Raine's ruin mode, etc.) So yes, I would agree with you.
I played it more for the new characters than anything else. Sure, I wanted to find out about Lloyd and see Yuan and Kratos, but when it came down to it, and I was actually into the game, I really cared more about the new characters the most.
But Abyss would beat DotNW any day~ We all know this. If they had taken the story of Emil, Marta, Richter, and Aster and thrown them into their own game with their own supporting characters, and added a few more plot twists, then it might have been on par with Symphonia and Abyss. It'd be better than Legendia at the very least. *shivers*

I played it thinking that it would be good, any they might actually build on Sheena and Zelos'love-hate relationship. Alas.

Well, I admit that there were some parts that were enjoyable and I found myself getting caught up in the story, the overall game play drove me crazy. The fighting system is terrible compared to Symphonia and Abyss because it's terribly flat and almost 2-D in how the enemies line themselves up. The enemies aren't visable on the map, so you can't avoid them if you're low on HP or run after them when you're leveling up. And it's almost impossible to find anything on the map. After the first twenty hours you get a neat device that allows you to easily get to the places you've already been to, but I still found it annoying. And then there's only one city to explore. >.<
To make things worse, the characters are hard to get attached to. Most are rather shallow for a Tales game, and their outfits are just ridiculous.
Other than that, I'm still slightly fond of it. Though it's the only Tales besides that I own and still haven't beaten.

Yeah, at times it was pretty cool, but if you get the Perfect ending, it'll piss you off. It's kind of like the Harry Potter ending.
I really liked that battle system, but Abyss is better. I LOVE THE CORES. I am obsessed with Guy as a fighting unit, OH MY GOSH CENTER FTW. AND CRESCENT STRIKE.
Emil was the lousy lovechild of Luke and Llyod that can fly really high in the air. >_>
BTW, when you do finally get your old pary back, they can't level up, so you reallycan't use them in the final battle because their level's too low. Seriously, you're far better off using your monsters, which for me was a lvl 100 Simurgh ("Sumatra") and a lvl 100 Fenrir ("Kanai").
Yeah, they really are hard to get attached to, except the screwed-up yaoi that is Richter/Emil. XD Which is mostly for lulz.
Again, the Perfect ending will make you want to hurt someone. XD Dunno about theregular ending, though.

XP So true. It was so obvious from the moment Emil and Richter saw eachother. Quite literally within the first few minutes of the game when they met, i instantly decided to start looking for hints of tension between them, and was surprised that it turned out to be practically more canon than Butter x Toast

Agreed, though technically EmilxMarta is the MOST canon coupling. But... no one really cares about them. The fanbase LOVES RichterxEmil.

Aster x Richter is just as good, and i guess it shouldn't matter much to me since they look the same XP. I basically support Past RichterXAster and Current RichterXEmil anyways

That's actually where I started gathering my evidence. At first, it was just amusing because Richter was always hanging out with Emil and looking out for him, but after that point~

I don't see why Emil would pick Marta over Richter, to be perfectly honest. I mean, look at Marta's feet! They're so disproportionate it's downright creepy. Not to mention she's extremely annoying. Seriously, she's just about the only female character in the Symphonia series that I hate, I think. I don't even hate Pronyma; she just kind of makes me laugh a little, because of her unrequited love for Yggdrasill.

Her feet ruined almost all of the fluff moments between her and Emil for me. I do love the animation of ToS 2, but it could be really sketchy in some parts, like Collete. GAWD. *hated how they animated her*
I could understand Emil decision, as Richter did try to kill him plenty of times, but what made me sad was how Ratty (my weird nickname for Ratatosk) got the short end of the stick. I mean, he obviously likes Marta too! Give him some love! :C
Marta seemed kind of bipolar to me. I mean, I really disliked her at some scenes and then really liked her during others. She just seems so... typical to me. But I suppose not everyone can be amazing, ne?
Yggdrasill makes me laugh. Because he's the lord of the dance and all. 8DD

Yeah, I actually like Ratatosk/Marta more than Emil/Marta, just because I thought it was sweet how Ratatosk wanted to protect her . . . in his own way. Plus, I still like Emil/Richter, so . . .
And yeah, I agree about Colette. There was something about the way they drew her face; she just didn't look pretty anymore, which made me kind of sad. 
I loved Mithos, though, spandex or not.
