tacticangel — Ah, More Ominous Ground Fog...

Description The title is something of a play on the theme of the party's experience. Though they wouldn't really know it, these three are stuck in the Plane of Shadow, and the always strange, sometimes nightmarish, and as often cheery disposition of the plane is often marked by a pervasive, low-hanging fog. This is also an attempt to see if I still have "it." I haven't drawn in a good while, sadly.

From left to right, they are Dixon, the intellectual scout; Lucien, the ascetic holy knight; and Ara, an Elven druid. Her name is actually significantly longer, but I honestly don't know it. Together they go where no man has gone before, except Dixon, who has in fact been there a while...

Nevermind.

I like this drawing as hole, and I don't see things I want to pin point as critic.

(Actually I would have interpreted the plane of shadow, without trees, more imaginative because "seeing" reality/imagination is would be easy, the charakters imagines a shadow castle there will be a shadow castle... dont mind me I am to set in the concept of planescape, where believe can create reality.... I hope non of them will have a nightmare )

I've actually used this theme in a few scenes. The character's fear, emotions, imagination has created obstacles for themselves. The very nature of traveling through the Plane of Shadow is confusing because there is no set topography for it and the laws of physics do not apply in all cases, or maybe in only certain degrees. The 'easiest' way to get from one place to another is through gates that randomly appear inside.

To a large extent, the Plane of Shadow, as I run it, is a series of archetypes with some Jungian imagery. The place was actually created by a now dead god, who's chopped up body is still in various places around the realm. People are as much in his head as anywhere else. The scary woods; the troubled town; the unfinished work; the deep subconscious. Basically, powerful and nearly universal experiences, plus references to some surreal works, like Alice in Wonderland.

Glad that you are drawing again. And I think you still have "it". I liked the fog, the stern expressions and the gear on the characthers. I didn't like the knight dude in the middle, he looks like a proto-human ape. And I think this drawing could use more shadow, maybe the light should come from a light source of their own, like a torch ( do torches work in the plane of shadow) because I know that plane ought to not have any light sources. Maybe a more defined lack of visibility for the distant trees and a darker background could also help. I mean, I liked this, but I think it could use more shadowiness.

One of my players said "The commenter is obviously unaware of the oddly ambiguous nature of lighting on the Plane of Shadow." Granted, this is how I was running it. Typically the mood of any given area of this setting is static. There is a sense of day and night, though not always a sun. The haze is lighter and darker, but never listed as completely black.

I do appreciate the comments though. I wouldn't say I'm completely satisfied with Lucien. I'm probably not completely satisfied with a number of portions of this and I always like a well developed opinion more than "me like" or the unfortunate opposite ("me no like.")

Well I'm no expert on the plane of shadow. Thanks for explaining.
