The world is free, the people are not. Animals are free (those who are not captured by us) and they don't need any Christ or Zeus to just be.

I think it's more like God controlling us as one controls a horse. The horse is still alive, still has a mind, but is being guided by the rider. The horse has great strength on its own, but it is not used. The horse must be "broken" before one can ride it, or it would buck the rider off.
Sorry for comparing people to livestock.

But the natural state of the horse is freedom. Only by cruelty and birth in captivity do they allow us to ride on them. Interesting that you should compare religious followers with captive horses...

When they're a well-trained horse, they do. Training a horse isn't always cruel, whatever you may say. There are plenty of humane horse-lovers out there. And it's not like the comparison is perfect... Good point, though.

I know that, and it's really good that there are some people who realize that animals are just as much as emotional as we are. But I just don't like it when people compare themselves to animals to explain a religious belief (most notably the god's sheep in the Bible).
