Description 1890s dresses are simpler than in previous decades. Skirts are neither supported by crinoline or bustle, nor very tight as in the late 1870s. Corsetting, however, is even more restrictive.

For day, men wear 3-piece suits with either matching or contrasting sack coat, waistcoat and trousers. Waistcoats are usually single breasted. For neckwear, the options are: ascot tie, four-in-hand and bowtie. Pointed beards and generous moustache are also popular.
