Just a small idea that went a little crazy this weekend, and I'm having fun making these as well as the kimono jewelry
These are made from chopsticks, but not the one's stolen from your local Chinese restaurant. They're really nice, and don't splinter at all (I eat with these type all the time).
They're covered in fabric about half way down, and then beads and whatnot are dangled from them, because I have a bead fetish.
These are actually meant to be worn in your hair - if you wear them both horizontally (so they both stick out from the sides of your head, as opposed to the top) they look friggin' awesome! The dangles sparkle, and some of them jingle, and it's just fun! You do get odd looks, though, so just warnin' ya.
I'm considering just vending stuff like this at small conventions, because explaining to hundreds of people "No, they are not made in China. No, they are made to fit you. Yes, they are more expensive..." for hours on end is just... well, it burns me out quickly.
Plus, I could sit by the awesome ~wickitwist and we could share supplies/bitch/listen to music for a con!

I love it, those hair sticks are so cute! I sometimes use a wood (japanese) chopstick to tie my hair, but I'd like something prettier and more..original, just like this! *W*

I would say: Just go for it! Here in Holland people just do whatever they feel like and wear all kinds of stuff. You should wear it anywhere!

The good quality one's I find are actually at our local grocery store - much better than the plastic one's at jewelry stores and stuff like that, and way better than the wood one's at restaurants ~ they seem like they're some sort of bamboo that has been laminated or something!

Way cool! That's a neat idea, putting the fabric on like that. I love hair sticks~ I have two pairs and a single larger one from Claire's or Ardene, I don't remember, but I haven't been able to use them ever since I cut my hair a couple months back >_< I think out of the ones you've made so far, I like these the best because they're so colourful~

Yeah, I'm definitely growing mine out again just so I can use all my hair stuff, but I was very tempted to get it trimmed because the summer is getting warm *faints*
