Description The last glimpse of the sun's warming rays reflected from the cold water of the winter stream.

Shot in Sykes Wood near Pudsey, Leeds, West Yorkshire, England.

HDR from three RAW files, blended and tone mapped in Photomatix.
Adjustments to curves, contrast, saturation and sharpening made in Photoshop CS3

This is a lovely scene. I have a thing for bright sunlight in combination with snow
2 improvement points, since you ask for critique:
1. The horizon is not quite straight
2. The saturation of the sun and the area right around it is a bit on the edge. A bit too much for my taste.

Mind you, these are minor issues in a shot that's quite nice indeed.

Hi Sander, thanks for taking the time to ponder this image and for sharing your thoughts.
The horizon, as far as can tell is level and horizontal as judged by the only feature that is truly horizontal, the water.
I concede the point about the sun flare being a little on the edge but it was the only way I could get any colour in the sky at all. Any way it's all subjective and I'm happy that you like it overall.

Ah yes...I guess the surroundings over there are hilly, and there is a hill on the right in the image?
I used Holland as a reference point - mostly flat

lOL. No problem, I'd have to travel about sixty miles in any direction before I could find a level horizon.
