Christopher Columbus! Two posts in one day? How is this possible?!

Okaly pokaly, I was feeling zesty a few days ago and felt like doing something I hadn't really tried yet, so I drew this in all coloring pencils. Yay! I'm going to get the original framed.

I do have a simple back-story to it. It basically goes that in all actuality, the sun's really a big shiny cat, and the moon's a little fat bird, and once upon a time long ago, while the earth (which I think I might draw sometime as a whale- yeah, a WHALE) was still getting itself accustomed to, you know, existing, the sun and the moon met each other in the heavens. The moon was perched on one of the many heaven trees, watching the stars, when the sun came along and blocked them out with his rays. Now, this upset the little moon, because as we all know, stars are very hunky birds, and the moon had a thing for star birds- err, but anyway... the moon was a bit cross at the sun for blocking out the stars, and voiced it in her shrill little voice. That caught the attention of the gloriously shiny cat, who happened to be a bit peckish. “Well, my dear,” said the sun, a smile creeping across his muzzle, “I’m terribly sorry for my intrusion! I say, may I do something to correct this most heinous act? Perhaps I may aid you in your quest for companionship?”

Now, any sensible heaven bird would know better than to trust a heaven cat, but the moon always had been a bit flighty, and had always found fancy talk to quite flattering, even if she didn’t understand everything that is said. “Well, okay, cat,” she said in her piping voice as she hopped down from her branch, “but how’re you going to do that?”
“Ahh, Madame, ‘tis simple, really. All you have to do is point to the star you want, and I’ll fetch him down from his perch for you.” The moon thought it over, but agreed quickly. The sun nodded and smiled a toothy grin, and told her that he would watch from behind a cloud, so she could see. He ducked behind a cloud, just within pouncing range, as the moon concentrated on which star was the cutest, when the stars disappeared again- the sun had jumped out, and was sailing right towards her, clawed paws outstretched and eyes (and teeth) glimmering from his own radiance. She made the worst little bird scream you could ever hear and took flight, beating her wings as fast as she could, but the sun chased her still. And, even to this day, the sun and the moon run across the sky, ever embroiled in this rather silly act.

Hmmm… that didn’t come out as simple as I would have liked. Oh, well!

And yeah, I did make mistakes here and there, and it isn't really all that fantasic, but I like it.
