Description "... do you ever read anything with like fights and wars and other cool stuff in it?"

Yeah, winter's a long time and it was a big library, wtf did she end up reading to him?

Pencil sketch, colours added in photoshop. Beauty and the Beast (c) Disney as usual.

Update March 2nd, 2012. wrote an awesome little dialogue for this picture, here it is:

"Why can't we read more about that Arthur guy, the one who was king? He was fighting that other guy, More-something?"

"Mordred. And we'll go back to Arthur and Camelot, but you promised me you would let me read you some Shakespeare."

"But - "

"This one has a big feud between families, lots of sword fighting, and forbidden love."

"...Okay, we can do that one instead."

Try reading A song of Ice and Fire saga - it's exciting and heartbreaking. Hehe I wonder what would Belle think of it.

I wouldn't go so far as to say that Romeo & Juliet were in love, more of them being in lust.

Either way, I noticed how Beast looks bored.

Maybe they should go back to reading about Arthur.

One of the reasons I love this movie so much is that it gives the characters a realistic amount of time in which to bond and get to know each other.

I remember reading one version of Beauty and the Beast, I think it was just called "Beauty", that had all of the books in the library be from different time periods - Robert Frost, Sherlock Holmes, Rudyard Kipling...and Beauty was all like "WTF are these stories? Who ARE these people?" It's a pretty interesting idea.

Anytime! I've only got a small batch of Disney deviations, but I dare say I've got some good stuff...would it be okay if I asked you to take a look at them and leave your opinions with some comments?

In the musical Belle reads King Arthur to Beast, so that covered the "cool stuff" as far as the 18th century is concerned.

Really cute.

I've always taken any references to a particular era in Disney films with a grain of salt...(the dishes and plates form Eiffel Tower during 'Be our Guest' yet that wasn't built 'til the very end of 19th century) it just all happens "once upon a time".
