I finally watched the second season of Akibaranger. And I gotta say, much weirder than the first season. This season just wasn't enjoyable for me at all. So stupid. So random. Personally, very disappointing. Not as fun as the first season.Akiba Red's power up with an anime character he loves.....what? Sorry, but that's too much for me. Maybe I just don't get the whole mindset or culture of fanatics like these characters are portrayed as. But anyway, he's pictured with it here.
Yellow's helmet was changed from pigtails to buns. Blue's ponytail was changed and gets straps on her legs.
The thing I appreciated the most out of the entire season was the stunt man episode. First, Yellow's mistaking Yoshinori Okamoto for Jirou Okamato was hysterical. Second, seeing Seiji Takaiwa appear in an episode was great. Although there was no mention of his roles in Kamen Rider, it was still enjoyable to see him.

In the Akibaranger universe Kamen Rider as well as many other heroes don't exist as we know them. So there wouldn't be any Kamen Rider references.

I can't find anything official but that has been confirmed that Kamen Rider as well as Sailor Moon, Metal Heroes, and other Tokusatsu shows are either non-existent or altered into something else. Super Sentai is the only one that is entirely unaffected.

I read that they changed Yellow and Blue's helmets was because Yellow's twin-tails and Blue's pony tail kept falling off during filming.

They should have kept in a shot of that as a gag.....just doing the roll call and then one of the ponytails flies off and whacks Nobuo in the face.

I personally thought it was entertaining. I liked ©Na's (Malshina's) ability to transform into her own battle mode, in an "evil ranger"-esque way. I also liked the fact that they referenced Power Rangers slightly. Also, the teamup alternate finale they made, that was awesome. I also liked that the new Akiba Blue, Luna, was more of an otaku than Mitsuki was.
The Power-up mode, I thought it was a good fit for the show. I mean, through a self-created manga, Nobuo was able to interact with, and get a new power from a fictional character within a show. I thought that was kinda creative.
And, I admit it might've been a little random at times, maybe a little dumbass-ness too. But hey, isn't that the nature of it? I mean, it's a spoof of its own basis, as well as itself.
Anyway, great job, man. Pretty good stuff here.

The power up may have been a good fit for the theme of the show, I can't argue with that. It's just too weird for me and puts me off of the whole season.
The show is supposed to be dumb and stupid, sure. It's a spoof, I get that. But it dove into the whole fanatic lifestyle even more than the first season, and I just can't wrap my head around the obsessiveness displayed. What baffles me is that there are actually people like those characters. I. Don't. Get. It.
