yeah I thought that that was a possibility too. although I think that it is also possible that, as I read once from I don't know where. That this is just to have the battle droids fit in with Republic Commando's darker grittier look.

1.) B1 Battle Droid
2.) Adv. B1 Battle Droid

In terms of armor, the Adv. Battle Droid is the middle child.

when it comes to the Adv. B1 Battle Droids, I mostly view them as being regular battle droids, only they've been redrawn to fit in republic commandos darker grittier version of the star wars world. mostly because outside of the video game we don't see them anywhere.
