that is a good question. when I first came up with this Idea, I was combining my love of Bionicle with my interest in World War II stuff at the time, and I had played one of the Call of Duty Games that play in world war II.
I guess you could technically have Matoran on both sides after all the German helmets do have a very different look from the allies.

Trenches were used in WW2, without question. Itβs due to fast paced mechanized and motorized warfare that prevented it from turning into the trench warfare of ww1

from the few times I played the World War II themed Call of Duty games trenches were made in World War II Just not as elaborately.
