Does this count as art? I guess it does. I know I put a lot of work into it. This is a swimmable mermaid tail I made over the summer. I learned to sew in order to make it. Each scale was individually hand-painted; the fluke was made with spray fabric paint with yarn on one side and wire on the other (if you do this use wire, not yarn! Yarn moves too much.) to simulate the little bones fish have in their tails. Thanks to for the tailmaking tutorial, as well as several others like Courtney mermaid of Underwater Tales [link] and mermaid Sasha [link] for their ideas and tutorials on scale painting and sewing a fabric tail, respectively.Related content

OMG! You look beautiful!! As dose your tail! I've been wanting a tail myself for a long time but always put it off due to my... Non-stick figure-twig like modle size that most mermaids are. But you really look stunning. I'm twice the size admitidly, or maybe more. But seeing this image of you looking so beautiful is giving me confideince that if maybe i put the work in to drop my weight. Maybe one day i can look as pretty!
Anyway! Beautiful work on the tail. The scales look wonderful and i bet it took ages to paint each of them The fluke's a plesant and soft shape as well that is rather flattering. Awesome work!!!

Thanks Taylor! I bet that was something to meet Hannah! I wonder how she can keep her eyes open in salt water? I can do it in chlorine and fresh but salt always stings my eyes.
Too bad they couldn't have it at the Mirage (their pool looks pretty!) but I heard about the dolphins issue. That was the nail in the coffin for the reasons why I didn't go.

Yes, and we stayed at the mirage and saw the dolphins. Their habitat was very small.

I usually do when my family goes on a beach vacation during the summer, but the water was too choppy and shark infested this year (NC had a least two shark attacks and a lot of sharks sited too close to shore this past summer). It wouldn't be wise to swim in my monofin that's not meant for ocean use anyway!Not to mention that the NC coast has murky water!
Poor dolphins!
