Last month we visited Fatima and the sheer overload of Madonnas inspired me to make this picture: Maria as the Star of the Sea and the Lady of the Sailors.
Christianity always felt very exotict to me, no less strange than Voodoo or Hinduism. My mother was a deeply rational humanist while my father was a mystic, what we would call New Age today. A good combination: thanks to them I can write Sci-fi as easily as fantasy. Believing six impossible things before breakfast comes easily to me.
