Isn't Azatoth supposed to be the blind idiot god of chaos? Fractals seem pretty organized and patterned to me. You'd think he'd be more... chaotic.

Well, all truly dangerous and destroying thing are pretty organized. And the operating words are idiot and mindless, which is pretty simple. Something endlessly self-referencing like a fractal is in fact the most mindless and simple pattern.

...but Lovecraft had Azatoth as the Creator. In fact, whenever a Great Old One was being summoned to destroy, it was usually Yog-sothoth.
