Yes! While the paint was still wet I sprinkled with cooking salt (the more rough one) and it absorbed the colour!

wow, what an amazing blue! love it!so dreamy^^,
mmm, i never could get a reasonable effect with salt. maybe i lack a step. do you rub the salt onto paper or just sprinkle?i think mine lacks contrasting colours, so it doesn't show up as much, but am not sure.what kind of white did you use on the jellyfish?

I don't rub the salt. I always use dark colors, and a lot of water and pigment, so that when the salt absorbs the colors, the contrast is greater!!! Try with darker colors and a lot of pigment. And let it dry by itself... Let it take it's time!
For the jellyfish I used a normal white pen I got my hands on!

the salt is placed on the darked pigments or lighter ones?or on both^^,?
cool!so the contrast theory IS viable!thanks, must try that next time when i use contrasting colours. too late for current piece, but am not supposed to mix colours this time anyway XD.

I usually place the salt on the darker pigments so that the effect is greater, but if you apply it on lighter ones, effect becomes soft, and so it depends for what purpose you want that effect!
