Thanks for this most other tutorials are for digital fire which is no help when using pens, paint, or pencils.
Your tips have helped heaps in adding theory & methods on how to go from draft outlines to adding colours ... I've been using ballpoint pens, and after finding this my fire / flames sketches are already looking much better

This was awesome
Another way to explain it (as I've found with my friends) is that fire is basically "glowing, rusty air"
Although-that definition kinda kills the magic of fire for some people
Also, on smoke: Complete combustion yields carbon dioxide and water vapor, but since that's rarely ever the case, the smoke contains unburned particles. The cleaner and more complete the burn, the whiter the smoke. The darker the smoke, the less clean and complete it is. On that note, liquid fires can also give off sufficient smoke depending on the liquid (ie: petroleum)
This was an awesome tutorial over all-not one thing told us step by step of your drawing process but it told WAY more as it explained the actual how a fire works and why it looks the way it does. Excellent segue into your next parts of the series of the process
Cant wait to see the others

I'm glad I came off as helpful! I was actually a lil worried I'd sound all "Blaaah-I'm smart!" but I just love learning too-and I love learning by teaching (it really does help me out lots!)

Thanks! I can't remember where I got it. I just looked for whatever it was called on Google and took the image from on there... Someone I watch (who has changed her icon) had a moving image of this which I really liked, but I couldn't get that one...
