Theme 22 of 100 and final piece of the Element Special.
If you get the expression that this pic really took time to get done, bloody hell, you are right about this. It took forever to get done, but for good reason.
With "Time" as the last of my Element-Special of my 100 themes, I had something very special in mind. (Ok, some of you may say that time is actually no element, but this is only partly right. Some mythologies ,indeed, consider time as an element and this is my personal opinion as well.)
Since you can not grab time as a physical thing, but only represent it, I have choosen the clock as a way of showing the element of time.
In fact, you can find many things in here which really represent time as a flow (past, present and future), but also many objects which a deeper sense behind the actually thing, yet always in the context of time.
Btw.
The seven spheres in front of Shadow also have something to do with time. Like to guess?
It's hard though, so I will also tell you if you don't know ^^.All in all, this pic turned out very good for my standarts in art and I must say, that I was really surprised how good it turned out. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I did when I made it. Have fun with it! ^^

Hey tal, it me. I've been wanting to tackle this so lets go.
The sands must represent life, the cogs showing time carrying on and the clock counting down to the end of things As day turns to night and back again, that mean a little less time for us. The shadows at of Maria probably means that no matter how far time goes, it can't erase whats dear to us.The pose of the clock hands in a classic pose for clock hands and I don't think theres anything with that. Shadow meaning that he exists a lot longer then everyone else. Out of time so to speak. The circle of his arms might be a referance to the Ouroboros, the symbol of life and regeneration. And the seven orbs must represent life;
1: Birth
2: Formative years
3: Teenager
4: Young man
5: Middle aged man
6: Old man
7: Death
The whole pic itself seems to echo our ompending doom but also it celebrates life itself. A very contradictry piece.

you're right with several things in here: The way Shadow is holding his hands forms a neverending circle. Life itself just like time is an eternal, ever-repeating circle.
The seven orbs stand indeed for a period in life. In the past of my country's history, people believed that every person is changing all 7 years and when you think about it, it's also true: you change from a small child to a school-kid, then to a teenager, to an adult and so on.
The two shadows of Maria stand symbolic for the time which had passed during Shadows sleep.
There is only one thing missing: the Clock hand are also meaning something. The smybols of star, moon and sun reperesent also life, but this is really the only thing you left out.

Thanks. I like tackling pictures like this as they have a moral highground that most people find hard to see. I thought I had covered everything. I can't believe I missed the sun, moon and stars. Still, the 7 stages of life in your country is an interesting concept and one that brings an air of piecce about Life's end. Still, I can't believe that I got so much. I was certain I had gotten a few things wrong or missed them out. I'm surprised I did so well.

I guess the real reason is they can't nderstand the heart and soul behind it. They look but they don't see. They look at the picture and thats all. To see you need to find thwe soul within.

I learned this from my art tutor. You need to feel the art, the emotion and story thats being told. Once I learned tyhat I began to really see things that I didn't see before.

It's odd really. By changing your view of the world around you, your able to enter a new world inside your ind. Its an amazing ablity I find.

It is a bit. They're prisoners of there own making. By entering your mind you free yourself from the mortal coil if for a brief moment. Thats why art is so important. It helps others find themselves. At least thats what I think.

Still, I guess I need to get back into drawing. It's a git when you haven't done it for a whole year. I haven't had time to improve but then again, maybe I have.

It's not good at all. Being as it's the ONLY scanner I can afford. And I can't get a new model as they stopped making it after I bought it. Thats why I got it so cheap. But it is a good machine.
