I've wondered about that too... People give someone a rose to show them they love them, but aren't roses liked because of their beauty? It's kind of like saying that you love that person because of superficial reasons. Why not give them something like...a potatoe? They last for almost ever, and they have so many uses. A rose...it's just for decoration. It's almost like saying, "I love you because you're beautiful and because I can show you off." And what do you do with a rose once it's dead? You throw it away. Well, then I guess it can fit the generation we have now...

Sorry, that's something that would have better use in my journal than for a comment.

But the focus being off of the rose (I think) has a bit of meaning as well...You aren't showing the beauty of the rose, you're focusing more on the fallen petals, signifying perhaps "wilted love".

Wow. Thank you! I loved that comment. and for the hole focus thing? well I had my 3.5 megapixel digital cam, and it doesn't have autofucos so what I'm looking at the little screen it looks good, but when you see it up large its all well, funny looking lol. this was actually the most useable picture that I took out of like 20 or so?. But thank you again!

There's nothing I love more than a rose photo, I love the angle it is taken from and how it is in the glass. I also like the petal at the bottom to add colour to more than one place in the photo

I think you chose a very good symbol to represent love and the death thereof. Also nice job on the compostion, nice photo even without the meaning, with the meaning added only makes it much better. good job.

beautiful- the dimensions of the picture really add to the overall effect you get here.
my only suggestions might be to sharpen that sucker up and perhaps adjust levels (?)
only suggestions... Beautiful!

yea i tried to do that, but i couldn't its hard to adjust photo qualty from a a digital camera, if i had film it would had come out alot clearer. cause i could had adjusted the focus. but what can ya do :shurg:

jinfung In reply to TalentWasted [2005-06-21 15:48:33 +0000 UTC]

Have you tried adjusting the levels?

a cool little trick i've learned in photo shop:

image> adjust> levels
as well as image> adjust> hue and saturation

not to say that the pic is bad- I love it, but you can add some wild effects and place emphasis this way

Nice concept... good take on the red rose... I like the contrast a lot & the angle you've chosen... I'm not too sure about the foreground rose being out of focus... but overall, nice work.

A rose has always been the symbol of love for ages I love thios one the crimson reds against the soft white/ creamy background give it contrast but also a softness to it. The rose dose bloom and die but lis always reborn. Even though love can sometimes die off between two people i tink its a symbol that love can be reborn (door bell)(okay back lol). So yes this is an instant fave foe me

wow...this is amazing...theres something so lovely about a dying rose...I don't think love ever dies...I think new love becomes prominent but the old stays with you in a minor place in your heart to teach you from experience.
