Beautiful stuff. How do you do a shot like that? I'm interested in getting a Lomo camera with a fisheye lens for doing 'alternative' photography - would that get a similar effect to this?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Talescaper In reply to Zeffen-Lynx [2008-11-24 14:16:26 +0000 UTC]

Thanks.
Yeah, probably. This was done with a Soligor 0.15x fisheye lens, which is a spherical lens. It's screwed on top of a normal lens. You don't need a LOMO though, not specifically anyway. The effect is done by the lens and not the camera, although the format might play into it if you want the result to be a full round image.

Jasmine-Jean [2008-09-03 11:53:23 +0000 UTC]

Excellent How did you get it to appear so spherical?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Talescaper In reply to Jasmine-Jean [2008-09-03 12:01:49 +0000 UTC]

This was taken with a circular fish-eye lens, which creates a 'spherical' 180 degree image on the film.

wow. I really love those fishe eye lens photos. I'd like to do them myself but I cannot afford one.
well the colours here are awesome. that violet and sepia tones! but what are those stripes on the sky? I mean it doesn't look like it fits into there so is that dirt on the lens? it disturbs everything a little.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Talescaper In reply to Miss-Brauchskind [2008-06-30 08:34:51 +0000 UTC]

That's the marker colouration Using yellow marker on a negative and then scanning it like a normal colour negative makes it blue/violet and the photo itself will be a bit sepia-ish because of the scanner-light. And because of the way the negative surface reacts to light, there will be a few stripes...

This is absolutely brilliant, I love how you've coloured this, it really adds to the surrealness (not sure if that's a word).

This is a nice shot. Very eerie. the marker coloration gives it a feeling as though this is a place where something very bad happened. good stuff.

Love it! (lovely place too!) and the blue.. paint? watercolour? gouache? somehow makes this from average to great!

hmm, it makes me feel like it could be a fortune tellers ball... somehow it holds a pretty nice future or vision or well whatever it is they want to show you

Now THIS is nice. Remember what we talked about? This picture has all the things the other one didn't have; composition, contrast, a centre focus... and it's even artistically well done. Thumbs up

Talescaper In reply to captainaugust [2008-06-03 17:59:01 +0000 UTC]

I know. It's not even the same ball-game. I still have some plans for that polaroid though... you'll see it. Thanks for your feedback anyway. What do you think of the added colour, btw? I'm curious to your opinion about it...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

captainaugust In reply to Talescaper [2008-06-03 18:31:20 +0000 UTC]

It works because the rest of the photo is grainy as well. I didn't even notice it was added later; I assumed it was done by trickery with the camera, knowing that you don't like post-effects.
