It seems the professor didn't mention that this is just a trial for you. Yes, it's to help you control your powers, but because of my powers, should I choose, I can retake control at any point. So if I were you, I wouldn't try anything crazy.

I can see why you would think so. I'm an expert in this kind of stuff. I'd know if it was fake, and I can assure you, it isn't. Even if I had made a mistake with my diagnosis, I had it scanned by multiple sources, all that came back with the same result. It's real.

(OMG Rewire could literally be the perfect adversary for Jean/Phoenix, their powers pretty much contradict each other and they're both powerful mutants. Why didn't I think of this before???)
*my eyes darken and I take on a more serious look* Because you've been running rampant, Jean. You're the literal definition of a mutant with too muchΒ power. You're a Class 5, the only one in existence. You can hurt and destroy and kill, and you hold back a dangerous second personality. I can fix that...with my words, I can mend your broken psyche and help you regain full control of your power. And maybe...we can have a little fun in the process...

(Have you seen X-Men: The Last Stand? She literally kills hundreds of people before Logan/Wolverine finally has to kill her to save humanity from her terrible power. But since this is an alternate version of the story...)

(not to interrupt, but as of Days of Future past, the whole universe was rebooted, and The Last Stand is no longer a part of that continuity. So actually, THAT'S the alternate universe, in the main one Jean is still very much alive, as are Cyclops and the Professor.)
