So what is the "The Inspiration" behind my mixed media "Clownfish creation that went on to become my first underwater styled Art Doll?

A little History and a Ramble.... You have a choice! You either get comfortable as it is a long read /or/ You make your escape now.... Either / Or.... you learn or you learn not.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When I was younger I enjoyed Ballet. I took ballet classes as a child for a few years. But like most things when you are a child. I changed direction into other amusements and the ballet faze was over and  became as many childhood things do...just a memory.

The most enjoyable memory of those long gone days was not the memories of countless hours spent stretching my limbs, strengthening my toes, and the repetitive nature of practice... but rather my introduction to the story of the Pierrot Clown and the Ballet Dancer
(Pierrot and Columbine(ballet dancer)  are two characters from commedia dell'arte who represent the archetypal tragic lovers)

A LITTLE HISTORY AND STORY BREAKDOWN ABOUT THIS CLOWN/MIME
Pierrot, a diminutive of Pierre (Peter) or Pedrolino as he is known, is the sad clown among one of the most likeable stock characters of pantomime and Commedia dell'Arte .
Originating among Italian commedia dell'arte troupes active in seventeenth-century France, Pierrot first appears in 1660s comedies as a rustic and dumbfounded bumpkin, but in the eighteenth century he became the paragon of pastoral innocence, a pure (and often silent) fool.

Pierrot Through the Arts: The Cultural History of a Sad Clown
As a stock character, Pierrot can be traced back to Molière and Don Juan or The Feast of the Stone, which was first performed in February 1660 at the Palais-Royal theatre in Paris, with Molière himself playing the role of Sganarelle.

Pierrot became tremendously popular as the naive, pathetic but appealing white-faced clown. Today, Pierrot lives on through modern-day circus acts, street-mime sketches, TV programs, films, Japanese anime, comic books and graphic art novels. It was his job to be Pierrot and he kept up his end of the bargain

THE STORY
Pierrot, the famous character from the Italian commedia dell'arte, is set by the composer A. Schoenberg as the moonstruck and fantastical clown, who is a symbol for putting on a mask to hide one's true feelings or opinions.
During Deburau's performances, Pierrot was usually portrayed as downhearted over his unrequited love for Columbine, but she in turn loved someone else, Harlequin. Both Pierrot and Harlequin competed for the love of Columbine, but her heart belonged to only one of them

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A CLOWN AND A MINE?
A mime is a performer who uses their body and gestures to create the illusion of movement or create characters. A clown, on the other hand, is a comic performer who typically wears brightly coloured clothing and makeup and entertains audiences with physical humour, slapstick comedy, and buffoonery.
Marcel Marceau is probably the most famous mime.
Pierrot is a mime character, a French version of the Italian Pedrolino. A sad clown, in love with Columbine, who breaks his heart and leaves him for Harlequin. He is usually depicted wearing a loose, white tunic with an oversize collar and long sleeves.

WHY HAVE I CALLED MY CREATION A CLOWN  (ClownFish) RATHER THAN A MIME (as in  Mimefish)?
Well.... as it is usual for me to do. When I am inspired by a character that already exists. Which isn't that often... but when I am inspired by a such a familiar character I often progress upon a story... and so my progressed rendition of the story is the Pierrot starts off as a Clown who due to his sorrow of unrequited love for the Ballerina Columbine lost his colourful clothes and a single tear to adorn their face due the heartbreak. The tear turned into an ocean. The clown turned into  a mime as he lost the will to speak ( also the human tongue doesn't do so well underwater....)and  they turned into a fish (mermaid) who crafted a representation of his sorrow (Ballerina Columbine) from shells and fish scales. His most precious possession, and in time they turned to stone.. a relic.  Also playing off the word as a "clown fish"  actually exists, and is too rather colourful. However their heart drifted above water as a signal to anyone who sails as a reminder that true love will not lose you to a vast ocean of sorrow .. but unrequited love might.

If you managed to read all this vomit ... firstly well done.. I hope you are still well... and thank you. I'll leave you here. 💚. Tallulah.💚
