It's been really busy at work, leaving me tired and Y is still consuming my evening time so I haven't had time to do much new art. So have a collection of Kalos related pictures I did for my tumblr account during this time we were waiting for the games. A free torchic was given out with the release. Double xp, speed boost, evolves into a fast fighting type. The game is a pushover with the Blaziken now, and a dark type gym would have fell to it.

I swear there is a REASON we've never had a dark gym. Game Freak doesn't just skip a type completely for 5 gens for no reason. I just wish I knew what that reason was....
Also, LOVE the WW froakie! My zelda-obsessed friend and I had the same thought! Glad to see we're not alone! I also love the top left pic of all the starters, cute. So, you went with Froakie, didn't you? (You know, you may have already mentioned this....)Β

But, yes. I did it. It was way back then when we were thinking what types the starters would be and one theory was that froakie would turn to fighting type. So, he's chilling with his fellow fighter frogs.

About the lack of dark gyms... maybe it's because dark type is known as "akuma" i.e. "evil" type in Japan? And therefore they don't want to make an "evil" gym? Instead they'll settle for just dumping all the latest dark type pokemon to a single E4 trainer, therefore making him the only NPC specializing in "evil" pokemon??
I dunno, that's a pretty farfetched explanation. My other, more likely theory is that folks at Game freak try their best to include the so called "strongest pokemon types" in E4. At the same time, they also try to avoid including types that have already had their respective gyms in the main campaign. Aside from fighting gym + Bruno combo in gen 2, they've managed to do just that in every other generation. Despite the fans' complaints about the issue, Game Freak has stubbornly decided to stick Dark-type specialists only in the E4 for the sake of having tougher opponents at the end of the game. It does make sense, psychic types are fairly powerful and popular after all... But I still think it wouldn't be that hard to make a balanced mixture of gyms + E4 with the idea that one of the gyms had already "used" the dark type. Ghost, Dragon and Steel are some of the strongest and most formidable types around, and the fourth one... Hmm... they could start with electric types since they only have one weakness and are really fast. And have dragon replaced with steel as the 4th opponent type for the sake of change.

Besides, and to build up on your "akuma" thought, the dark type is usually used by the evil team , so it may be redundant to have a dark type gym since we're already fighting a lot of them when fighting team flare grunts...

I'm really starting to think Game Freak is consciously avoiding making a Dark-type gym, for whatever reason. And they have something against dolphins and flies.

I wouldn't say so. The game was full of hints that Kalos is surrounded by many other regions and Marriland made some good points in one of his videos that the next pokeon game WILL happen in a new region. And, Masuda apparently posted this some time ago: cheezburger.com/7863104256

WE NEEDS A DARK-TYPE GYM! Maybe the Gym Leader is dressed kinda like his lead Dark-Type, or the legendary Dark-Type, Darkrai (Darkrai's just one of my favorite Pokemon :3)
I haven't challenged the league yet (I'm playing Y as well) I have a feeling I won't make it, as my Pokemon are only Lv. 60, but you never know

I beat it with only one level 62 Pokemon. The rest were just under 60.
Your team sounds okay ^^ just be careful, they tend to restore Pokemon like normal gym battles .w. also using type advance is normally a very good thing... One of them did 200+ damage to me. Instant kill

Yep, they're Full Restore hogs. I know about type advantage too; I try to think about that. But it's kinda hard to remember what affects what with Fairy-Type. Another good strategy I'm trying to do is max out the affection in Poke-Amii, because my brother said the higher the affection, the Pokemon will avoid attacks more, do more critical hits, and get rid of status conditions.
