Description
This was my first watercolour on watercolourpaper. The reference was a picture of a nature book and it was nightly photo.After a long pause it was fun to paint again.
There's still alot to learn about this medium but I'm looking forward to it.
So please help me to get better, tell me what you think.

belated thanks! You're right, aquarelle isn't simple. This was my first try to really paint with the knowledge I have now of the techniques. There's alot to learn though.

This piece immediately caught my interest because of the color scheme. The different purples are beautiful and the shading is fantastic. I like the scratchiness of the elephants farther back because it gives the painting depth, even if that wasn't intentional. Great work.

Hi. I'm not like an artist at all but O-O I shall try to crit you since we are both part of the crits club. hopefully my outsiders view will help some.
okay um.
lesee first I'll look at anatomy- Well the elephants in the back are great, but it seems to me the legs on the front one are off- too skinny and too long, and the head too high up, though i might be wrong about the head. Also, on the back ones you hinted towards their being stumpy wrinkles... but not on the front elephant. >.< Sorry for being like... acting like I know what I'm talking bout o.o;; cause I really don't.
now composition- um um. I like it ^.^ the only negative thing I can say is that I wish there was more contrast at the top of the sky... a deeper purple. but obviously that wouldn't work as this is a pretty peaceful picture. I like how you managed to make the background unobtrustive so that the elephants were like... right there.
colors- amazing D: obviously. Only negative thing I can say is that I wisht he front guys eyes were more there. but yeah, beautiful. This looks like it was fun, too!

Like I've said before in the comments I tried to get as close as possible to the original picture and actually in the picture (from a potography book) the elephants were even less visible. I mean they were just shades.
But I get what you're going for.
And I agree on the colour of the sky. It could have been deeper purple but I read in some tutorials that you should try to keep the mixing of different colours minimal and only mix 2 if possible. So I kept taht in mind and try to get to the colours by only mixing 2 different colours.
But I still have alot to learn from the techniques.

I really like the hazy feel of the dream, but the detailing of the elephants aren't very consistent. It's just the elephant at the way back, that's turned to the side, though. It's a little scratchy and the colors are more seperated compared to the rest of the elephants.
Other than that, good choice of media

Actually the original photo had even less detail than mine. The elephants were more like shadows in the original picture and I tried to get as close to it as possible since this was my first watercolour.
But I agree that there's some parts which I could have worked more on to make it more detail but I just didn't really know how.
