Description
An illumination to accompany the calligraphy Ring verses as part of the Lore package for our Kickstarter. "The Lord of the Rings", that is, "Annatar" as he appeared to the Elves in the 2nd Age. The three rings of the Elves, which Sauron did not have a hand in making, were named for the elements of water, air, and fire, represented here along with earth for the One Ring, forged in the heart of the earth. Though I like to think of it symbolically as representing the three races: earth for the Dwarves, air for the Elves, and water for Men, with fire being the destructive power of the One Ring. This design was inspired by the Speyer Pericopes from the 13th century.
