When they met the first thing they did was fight. Thanks for Salamandrian culture.
Anyway, This looks kinda funny in my opinion. Cause Leatherhead doesn't know of how to fix problems or how ask someone to forgive him, I dunno. Leatherhead can be a little difficult cause he gets mad easily. And when I'm speaking to get along with a "female" may be more difficult for him. But he just accepts her as a friend after helping him and his friends.
But when Leather is confused or he doesn't know what to do he ask his dear friend Mikey for his help. In this case probably he said:
Mikey: Rub her with your tail!
Leatherhead: Would that work?
Mikey: YEAH! Ladies loves it
Leatherhead: .....OK. I'll do it my friend.
