Wonder where you got that number from? I would guess that it means that 1 in 6 returning service members have SERIOUS PTSD, cause I promise you that everyone exposed to war is affected.
I wonder how man Iraqi's suffer from PTSD, not just from out attacks on them, but from the last 30 years of misery that have been inflicted on them. Bet it would be more than 1 in 6. And on that score, how many of Gaza's residents have it? How many of her children?

I would like to post this in the Progressive Veterans myspace photo gallery and perhaps use it for other Progressive Veteran purposes. ProVets is a new non-profit organization similar to IVAW (iraq veterans against the war) so of course with your permission I would love to use this for educational purposes.
Thanks,
Dan

This is an amazing portrayal of something that is all too real and all too scary... the photo is very eye catching and makes you really stop and think of the tragedy of war... the photo is well executed and the concept well thought out. Well done.

Sobering, glad there are people who take the time to make others think about things like this. Well Done. The picture is composed nicely and the lighting is good too, but is there a reason the bottoms of the first matches are cut off of the picture?

No particular reason for that.. The DOF is narrow because I wanted to get the effect that the row of these soldiers goes to infinity (but didn't have enough matches to get them going beyond the frame LOL)...
Thanx for commenting.

That's powerful, I have to say. Very sobering. You could make a poster out of it or something, and I think it'd make people think a little more about war.

Nice set up. PTSD is a common thing amoungst war. If you see things that are disturbing your mind can't always process it and let it go. It is part of being human. Although I wouldn;t say they would rather return in a body bag. Sadly PTSD is common in abusive housholds as well. It is sad that people have to live a whole life reliving the horrors of the past. It shouldn't have to be that way and war is one of those things that should not be. Great capture of the numbers here.

When I read infos about the PST suffering soldiers I always wonder how soldiers and ordinary people managed to survive and go back to normal life about such ordeals like, for example, World War Two - with all the genocides, and things they experienced for a coupple of War's years. Were people stronger 60 years ago? I don't really have an idea...

i really like the idea. like creative x5 and your trying to get a point across this is real good work
so is ptsd like the stuff you here about when people return from war and arent themselves? like yuo read from books about older brothers returning from the war? [random thought] but same thing?

Yeah, something like that. The guys returning from Vietnam had that, and when they find out that there's no job waiting for them when they do come back, they pick up guns and take their own lives often, dissapointed and all that. Sad. It happened in my country after the recent war and it still does.
