Nice capture, I'm a big fan of spontaneous 'street' photography.
I like your composition, with the curve of faces leading out the frame; all of them looking rather intently at the same thing!
The exposure and focus is good, impossible to keep the sky from being over exposed in these situations!
Good work

Thanks!Β What can I say?Β We're a competitive group.Β And we can't let HHQ win, that's for sure.Β

The number one thing I miss about the Army is the camaraderie. Β Even second-hand smoke, especially on icy cold days, has pleasant associations of the guys taking a break while out on bivouac. Β We did a lot of sub-zero flying.

So true.Β There's nothing like embracing the suck to bring people closer. Or cold weather.Β I couldn't imagine doing anything in the single digits, much less sub-zero!Β You guys are crazy.Β

Cranking a UH-1H in subzero weather was interesting.Β My only case of frostbite while in the Army in Alaska came from putting on my flight helmet without letting it sit in front of the heater vent long enough.
We suspended our own training flights at -35F but continued to fly support for troop training.Β Those crunchies were tough.Β (One of my cohorts who got switched to an infantry battalion when he made O3 got blank stares when he addressed his company as "crunchies".Β He had to explain that it's how the aircrews referred to the infantry troops they carried because of the way they went crunch crunch through the snow.Β They loved it.)

Hahaha!Β I've never heard them called that before.Β They are some pretty stubborn creatures.Β Humping on patrols with them was fun.Β Cav scouts, though...those are their own breed of special.Β
