Well, today is the last Sunday of November so here in Russia it is a Mother's Day.
I know not everyone have good relationship with their mothers because of different factors: the story of your birth, experiences, sources of information you use and the way you understand it, but still...
At the beginning of the [Special Military Operation] it was obvious that me and my mom are on opposing sides. I was frightened as hell, people were arrested for going out to protest, for tweets in which they called others to go out and the new law has passed - the law that anyone can be jailed for anti-war public statements for 15 years (and 15 years in Russian jail is not the same as European jail or American. It's much worse than you can imagine. Even police station is more frightening than American jail). Also people started to rat on their neighbors co-workers and family members to the information police. I was in panic, I was afraid that police will get me, they will torture me and throw me to jail for 15 years. Once when we were speaking on the phone with mom I stopped to pretend I'm OK, I told her everything. And then she said a thing that made me believe that she really loves me. She said: "Don't worry. We have a good attorney. You didn't do anything bad". In Russia this actually won't make your chances to avoid jail or tortures but still...
