Reblog this pic on Tumblr here!

*Insert a half-dozen other jokes that reference songs about flying/the sky here*

So I had wanted to draw Amalika 's character, Sinistra, for a couple years now since she finished his new design. Because, you know, it's good and cool and all that stuff. But for some reason, I never found the perfect excuse to do so until Ama's birthday this past year, when I got this idea to draw him doing some sick skating tricks in the sky. I'm still pretty happy with how this turned out, especially since I put so much work and effort into it. Now I just need to get back to that point where I'm making pics like this again, rather than just settling for doodles.

Yay, now I can finally fav it on deviantART as well! Once again, a huge thanks for this awesome birthday gift! ;u;

It's awesome to see more art if Sinistra, and at least twice the awesome to actually see him in action as well! xD You did such a great job at the pose here. Sinistra must be the best at doing cool skating tricks in the sky, and drawing this pose and all that foreshortening to show that must have been really difficult @o@ But you pulled it off really well >u< He looks like he's doing it with ease, and his whole attitude here looks like he's showing off. How very fitting! And that smug grin? Perfect! The way his tail and hair flow with the wind is a wonderful idea as well.

And I have to say, that yellow background is superb! It fits really well with Sini's color scheme, and yet it makes him pop. And I love how you could effectively depict everything with different yellow shapes and gradients. Personally, I would have probably drawn a blue sky and a grey-ish... bar? Rod? Pole? I'm missing the correct English word here, but I hope you know what I mean! xD But I would've made the wrong call myself. Doing it all in yellow looks much more stylized and harmonizes really well with the overall picture. That's something I should keep in mind as well!

Thanks for the lovely gift, Tanny!

Sorry I was late with it. ='D But you're welcome, all the same!

I'm glad you like the pose and all the little details that went into it. It's nice to do something more action-y every once in a while, I gotta admit. And it was worth putting all that extra effort into it to get this result. Even more so knowing that I seemed to capture his personality well with it as a result~

Happy to hear that the stylized approach worked for you as well. I'm sure there's a way to do a pic like this with a more realistic background and have it work, though, so I wouldn't necessarily say that either way was right or wrong. It's just how I felt like going about it. XD But either way, I'm glad you like how things turned out in that regard. And if it inspires you to try different things, then by all means, go for it.

You're welcome, Amalette~<3 I'm glad you still love it. ;u;

Late reply is late, but I gotta say that I like these kinds of stylized backgrounds! It clearly shows the setting and where the character is at and what they're up to, but it's difefrent enough from the character to make them pop nicely and be the focus in the picture. It complements the character instead of distracting from it ovo
