If you wish to make your own tutorial and use info from this I would like the credit due to me for the effort and time I put into making and researching this. Please! include a link back to this as a source. Like you would do for an official paper written for school or workHere is the first of three guides dealing with the subject of nations and races. "Fanmade Nations and Races", and "Mixing Ethnicities and Nationalities" Will come next.
This is not a very long guide, since a lot of info on cannon nations and races can be found on the fma wiki, (I'll include the links here.) Mostly this guide just lists things that are not found on the wiki or things the wiki seems to be wrong on. (Also I'l like to mention that I knew what nations these where based off with the exception of xerxes BEFORE reading the wiki. I pride myself on my FMA knowlage so my vanity insists I mention that

Also the Cretan military has brown uniforms, and there doesn't seem to be a USA equivalent in FMA for some reason.

I was thinking Creta from the image, but which country(ies) could my character have originated in if she has red hair? I don't have a set eye color yet so I'll adjust that accordingly. Thanks ;3

The way Xerxes was presented to me always made me associate it more with Atlantis more than any existing nation. And the name Paninya sounds kind of Hispanic to me though I could be wrong. This is all really interesting ^-^

I always thought it sounded somewhat indian/other east asian, But it does have a hispanic ring to it you're right.

*nodnod* There's so much thought that went into this it's no wonder it's fantastic. I know I don't put half that much speculation into the names I use in my settings. It's kind of like "does this word sound like a place to me?...yes." and then I'm done.

Creta always came off more like a Facist Spain or Italy from the 1930's and 1940's, not nazi like but a more facist regime and very militaryistic/all production is purely for the military might of Creta.Creta also seems to constantly be on the verge of war with Amestris due to both of them sending many spies at one another to recover information. This also there are a few moments in the Star of milos you could find their military outfit which is Tan/Light Brown military fatueegs and a small tan hat, This much resembels the military outfit of Early WWII Soviet Union before men started to modify their outfits. Nice job other wise, very well put together.

The problem is that Aerugo is defiantly italy. and they way Creta is described as having many tribes that are ususaly in conflict with each other doesn't fit most Europe nations. We also know that drachma is based of Russia so both Italy and Russia are not possible for Creta

Spain could be compairable durring the 1930's and 40's the country was under a facist rule, but was at constant arms with smaller spanish groups that tried to take power, thats why they didnt take place in WWII, also i didnt say they were russia, their military garb simply looked like Russian WWII troops when they were first conscripted.

you made a small typo with the race types. i.e. "take into account the many characters
with light eyes and dark hair or dark hair and light eyes" Repeated the same thing

Well done! ^_^ Additionally, Eastern Island nations are mentioned in the manga too, so there is official precedent for them. Breda mentions that the game "shogi" he is playing is from there. Also, I think it would be cool to put some of the Black people in to the part where you talk about the different looks of people from Amestris. There do seem to be a lot of Black and/or South Asian looking people, probably because Amestris is such a crossroads of culture! This is a really helpful guide which I'm sure a lot of people will make good use of.
(You might want to check spelling though. Examples, "cannon" should be "canon", "Ishvalen" should be "Ishvalan" etc. I don't mind proof-reading things if you like.)

But I have found a tiny mistake: It shouldn't read '"pure" Germans' but 'pure Aryan' because I think there's still a difference.
